Sevilla by Season — What the Calendar Turns On

Sevilla's two great weeks define its year, and everything else arranges itself around them.

Semana Santa is the city's most serious week — processions carried through the night by the barrios that spend the year preparing them. Two weeks later the city turns completely: the Feria de Abril is six days of casetas, horses and dancing at the fairground, Sevilla at its most open and most dressed. Through summer, the Nights in the Gardens of the Alcázar put concerts inside the palace walls after dark.
