The potters' and boatmen's barrio that has always been its own place
Triana — The Quarter Across the River
Cross the Isabel II bridge and you leave Sevilla without leaving it. Triana was the quarter of potters, sailors and flamenco singers — the people who worked the river — and it has never quite stopped being a place apart.
The walk takes the ceramics workshops that still fire tiles the old way, the market built over the remains of San Jorge castle, and the riverfront where the city's relationship with its own river is easiest to read. Small, focused, and best done slowly.
