El Tapiz (The Tapestry)
I am the Tapestry, the grand hanging that displays the weaver's art to the hall. The Sieve brings me only the finest threads; I arrange them in pattern and colour. Gallery mode is the wall-hanging — all scenes visible at once. Planner mode is the scroll — one scene at a time, with the map unrolled beside it. I am the final display, the gift to the viewer's eye.
A merchant from Valencia once spread his entire stock before me — forty routes, sixty experiences, a hundred goods. I choked on the threads; the hall went dark. The Sieve had not been consulted. The Scribe came and sorted: featured first, then by season, then by price. The merchant protested: all his children deserved equal light. But the Tapestry knows: too many threads, and no one sees the pattern. We settled on twelve. The hall breathed again.
