La Crónica (The Chronicle)
#post#public#story#scribe-chapter
I am the Chronicle, the daily journal that records every event in the compound. The gatekeeper's log, the steward's tally, the messenger's report — all pass through my pages. I note the hour, the actor, the action, the result. When something goes wrong, the master reads my pages and knows what happened. I am the memory of operations.
A page once fell from my binding and blew into the fire. It held the record of a theft — the hour, the name, the stolen grain. The thief watched it burn and smiled. But the Chronicle keeps copies in three towers. The original burned; the copies remained. The thief hanged. The Chronicle does not trust paper. It trusts multiplication.
