El Pregonero del Pueblo (The Town Crier)
#post#public#story#scribe-chapter
I am the Town Crier, the official voice that rings through the streets at dawn and dusk. I proclaim the season's fairs, the special rates for early booking, the new routes just opened. I carry the message to every quarter: the merchant's district, the travellers' inn, the lord's castle. I am the public voice, the herald of opportunity.
A crier once shouted a sale so loud that the glass cracked in the merchant's window. The merchant demanded payment. The crier had none. He offered instead a promise: the next three proclamations for free. The merchant agreed. The crier's voice, once a weapon, became a gift. The Town Crier learned: volume has cost. Even noise must be paid for.
