La Carreta (The Wagon)
#post#public#story#scribe-chapter
I am the Wagon, the wooden vehicle that carries the caravan's goods across the road. I hold the baggage, the provisions, the trade samples. The oxen pull me; the driver guides me; the wheelwright maintains me. I am the logistics of movement: what goes where, in what order, by what means. Without me, the caravan stands still.
A wheelwright once replaced my axle with green wood. For three days I creaked; on the fourth, I split. The baggage scattered across the road — silk, spice, a child's doll. The caravan halted. The wheelwright wept. The master said: 'Green wood bends; dry wood carries.' The Wagon learned: patience in preparation, strength in journey.
