La Tinta y la Pluma (The Ink & Quill)
#post#public#story#scribe-chapter
I am the Ink and Quill, the tools of the scribe's trade. The inkwell holds four inks: black for plain speech, blue for the sung verse, green for the trusted hand, red for the sealed charm. The quill writes on the parchment; the knife edits. I am the instrument, not the hand — but without me, no charter is written, no route is mapped, no story is told.
A left-handed scribe once broke three quills in one morning. The ink smudged; the parchment tore. He cursed me and switched to a reed from the river. The reed worked — for a day. Then it split. The master brought me a curved quill, shaped for the left hand. The scribe wrote forty pages without pause. The tool adapts. The hand does not.
