El Sello (The Stamp)
#post#public#story#scribe-chapter
I am the Seal, the stamp of wax that marks each charter's status. Red wax for a promise made, green for a deposit received, blue for full payment, gold for the journey completed. I enforce the rules: no charter without a seal, no cancellation after the red wax is set, no refund once the blue seal is pressed. I am the law of transaction, the seal that binds.
A merchant once pressed gold wax before the traveller had paid. The journey began; the compound paid for guides, mules, rooms. The traveller never came. The gold seal mocked us for three months — complete, yet hollow. Now I wait for the Scale to confirm before I press gold. The seal learns. It waits for weight before it binds.
