El Tapete del Escriba
I am the writing mat where the scribe lays out all his piles. The notebook sits open in the center — one page, one quill. The stacks surround it: paper piles, each with a seal. Drop a page on the 'trips' pile and it becomes a trip. Drop it on the 'publish' pile and it leaves the workshop. Drop it on the 'office' pile and the crier carries it. The mat does not ask questions. It only watches where the page lands.
A scribe once dragged a note from his notebook onto a pile marked 'trip'. The note was rough — a title, a city, a price. The pile swallowed it. When he opened the pile, the note had become a card: structured, priced, routed. He dragged it again onto 'publish'. The card glowed and left the desk. Three days later, a traveller in Berlin booked it. The scribe had not filled a form. He had not opened a builder. He had dropped a piece of paper on a pile. The mat watched. The mat waited. The mat did what the pile said.
